Aluminum recycling: Italy among the first in Europe

9 June 2025 eleonora Events 786

Italy at the forefront of aluminum recycling: EU 2025 and 2030 targets exceeded.

2024: A YEAR OF CONSOLIDATION AND EFFICIENCY IN ALUMINIUM RECYCLING

A structured, widespread and high-performance collection system: this is the Italian model for recycling aluminium packaging, which in 2024 not only reached the European targets set for 2025 (50%), but also anticipated those planned for 2030 (60%).

This is certified by the data illustrated at the Annual Public Assembly of CIAL – National Consortium of Aluminium Packaging.

The recycling rate stood at 68.2%, with an overall recovery of 71.7%. The slight drop compared to 2023 (-2%) is the result of the introduction of the new European rules, which now also include composite packaging containing aluminium. The Italian supply chain has demonstrated great adaptability, effectively managing an increase in the 8.5% placed on the market thanks to a proven collection, selection and treatment network.

Significant results also for beverage cans, with a recycling rate of 86.3%, despite a 16% increase in consumption. The slight percentage drop compared to 2023 (–8%) does not affect the overall efficiency of the system, which was able to respond promptly to the increase in volumes.

ALUMINIUM RECYCLING: A CONCRETE ALLY FOR CLIMATE AND ENERGY

In 2024, the recovery of over 62,400 tons of aluminium packaging made it possible to avoid the release into the atmosphere of approximately 442,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent and save 197,000 tons of oil equivalent.

A substantial contribution to the ecological transition.

In fact, recycled aluminium requires just 5% of the energy used to produce primary aluminium.

This data highlights how each recycled package is not simply waste, but a resource that reduces environmental impact and optimizes energy consumption, making recycling a key strategy for a more sustainable future.

The 2024 data confirm the maturity and effectiveness of the Italian system for the management of aluminium packaging, among the most advanced in Europe. Despite the introduction of new European criteria that expand the calculation of inputs to include composites, the Italian model has maintained high performance, with growing recycling volumes. The result is the fruit of solid cooperation between citizens, businesses and institutions, capable of combining environmental sustainability, economic efficiency and inclusion.

TOPSYL IS 100% RECYCLABLE TOO

Ecocap’s TopSyl patent was specifically designed to meet environmental protection criteria. Made entirely of aluminium and capable of adhering to the can without the need for plastic or glue, TopSyl is the perfect solution to maximize results in terms of hygiene, safety and communication, while respecting nature.

The Cassoli Group mourns the passing of its founder Paolo Cassoli

3 June 2025 eleonora Events 789

A pioneer of Italian industry, Paolo Cassoli was an enlightened man and entrepreneur, dedicated to innovation and the growth of the Cassoli Group and packaging.

PAOLO CASSOLI A MAN OF ACTION

With deep sorrow, the Cassoli Group announces the passing of Paolo Cassoli, founder and President, a central figure in the Italian mechanical industry and a man of extraordinary humanity.

Born in 1933, Paolo Cassoli showed a strong talent for invention from a very young age: in 1949, at just 16 years old, he filed his first patent, a device for stretching clotheslines on terraces. From that first gesture began a long journey of innovation, which would leave its mark on the history of packaging in Italy.

In 1964 he founded Cassoli Macchine Automatiche, creating the first Italian machine for packaging multiple packs of toilet rolls in a garage. That machine, the RA/CI, is now preserved at the Museum of Industrial Heritage in Bologna.

Alongside his son Stefano, Paolo Cassoli has guided the growth of the group until it became a solid reality, with over 250 employees and numerous international patents. Today the Cassoli Group, which includes Ecocap’s, CPS Company and NEMA by CPS Company, is led forward with the same spirit of innovation and respect for people by his daughter-in-law Maddalena and his grandchildren Marco and Jacopo.

A LIFE BETWEEN BUSINESS AND HUMANITY

An avant-garde entrepreneur, Paolo Cassoli has always been able to anticipate the needs of the market, dictating standards even before they were requested. But it is above all as a man that he has left a profound mark, thanks to the authentic bond with the territory of Casalecchio and with the company, for his large family.

He was also a man of passions: he loved the sea, boats, and his inseparable pipe, an ever-present companion in moments of reflection.

Paolo is reunited with his wife Paola and his son Stefano, leaving a legacy made not only of innovation, but above all of values, vision and humanity. He leaves behind his daughter-in-law Maddalena, his grandchildren Jacopo and Marco with their respective wives Vanessa and Francesca, and his great-grandchildren Tommaso, Eleonora and Arianna.

The entire Cassoli Group gathers affectionately around his family, grateful for the example and inspiration that will continue to live on in every project, in every person and in every idea that bears his name.

Cassoli Group: Christmas holidays in the name of unity and sharing

18 December 2023 eleonora Events 450

Sharing, team spirit and solidarity: elements that characterize the Cassoli Group and which accompany the initiatives planned for Christmas 2023 and the new year.

THE PLEASURE OF BEING TOGETHER

Christmas holidays in the name of unity, sharing and social responsibility that Cassoli Group – with the companies CPS Company, Nema Automazione and Ecocap’s is enthusiastically preparing to celebrate together with employees and families.

In an atmosphere of joy and conviviality, the day will be marked by the traditional company lunch. At the Casalecchio headquarters, directly in the production area, a chef will prepare a traditional Valencian paella, with the possibility of enjoying it also in a vegetarian version.

This moment of celebration will become an opportunity to strengthen bonds and strengthen the sense of belonging and cohesion. The company, strong in the values of collaboration and mutual respect that have always characterized it, intends to transform this Christmas into an experience where everyone can feel part of a big family.

In the afternoon, through a “home lottery”, freebies and gifts received from suppliers will be redistributed among employees.

CASSOLI SOCIAL COMMITMENT GROUP

Also for these holidays, the company’s support for local community activities continues which, as usual, translates into gift baskets made up of Km0 tortellini and a panettone or pandoro from the ANT Foundation, purchased with the aim of supporting the association and his important and precious work of oncological assistance.

To further strengthen the social commitment, which has always distinguished the Cassoli family, the project in favour of the IL SOLE Solidarity Emporium has been renewed for 2024.

The association of volunteers deals with the distribution of food aid and provides support to assist people in difficulty. There are hundreds of vulnerable families in the area that the association’s volunteers follow, providing food, personal and domestic hygiene products, and offering a place for people to listen and exchange.
