Coca Cola for Israel chooses Ecocap’s

23 May 2023 eleonora News 297

Ecocap’s and its TopSyl patent consolidate its presence in the Middle East thanks to the Coca-Cola Company and being able to guarantee versatile, hygienic and environmentally friendly.

In response to consumers increasingly aware of the need for various safe packaging solutions, Coca Cola Company has launched a protective film in Israel.

Coca Cola Company has decided to preserve the quality of the soft drink by using the innovative TopSyl, the can protection system made with eco-sustainable heat-sealed aluminum capsules, an international patent by Ecocap’s.

ECOCAP’S: HYGIENIC, AVANT-GARDE AND ECO-COMPATIBLE SOLUTIONS

Ecocap’s, constantly engaged in the development of cutting-edge solutions to preserve and protect canned drinks and final consumers, provides the beverage sector with innovative and high-performance machinery.

The TopSyl patent is from Ecocap’s, the thin heat-sealed protection on the top of the can that guarantees hygiene and safety from packaging to consumption.

TopSyl protects cans as soon as they are filled, safeguarding the product, the consumer and the producer. It does not allow the formation of humidity between the protection and the can, therefore it prevents the formation of mold and the proliferation of bacterial flora.

Ecocap’s added value is the continuous attention to environmental sustainability: the caps are ecological and 100% recyclable and the machinery guarantees high productivity with reduced energy consumption.

A LOOK AT THE DATA

A snapshot of Saudi consumer trends conducted by McKinsey & Company in March 2021 showed that 39% of the population favor safe and hygienic packaging.

This new packaging solution in fact responds to a growing concern regarding hygiene on the part of the final consumer who will ultimately benefit from it.

Ecocap’s: different and sustainable with TopSyl

16 May 2023 eleonora News 295

Hygiene, safety, recyclability, elegance and communication: these are the elements of TopSyl, the Ecocap’s patent adopted by San Bernardo for mineral water and canned soft drinks, also produced for third parties.

San Bernando, a subsidiary of the Montecristo Group, present on the mineral water and soft drink markets, has adopted the eco-sustainable TopSyl capsules, an international patent by Ecocap’s.

Guaranteeing the hygiene of the can packaging and distinguishing itself from similar offers by using all the elements of the can as marketing communication tools: these are the objectives that prompted San Bernardo to choose Topsyl, the Ecocap’s sealing system.

Another element that has strongly influenced the choice is sustainability: Topsyl is a heat-sealed aluminum disk, without the use of glues, to the advantage of hygiene, economy and total recyclability of the materials. 100% sustainable!

AT THE BASIS OF CHOICE OF TOPSYL

San Bernardo in 2021 decided to adopt the packaging of aluminum cans in the sleek format to be green friendly and to give the consumer a further choice by making available a light pack, easy to differentiate and recycle.

The choice of the can recalls a sort of visual and tactile elegance, precisely recalling a glass. Furthermore, the product with Topsyl, in the perception of the consumer, brings it closer to that class of drinks made up of sparkling wines and wines which justifies a higher cost.

To all this is added the possibility of communicating limited editions, sporting events, competitions and commercial promotions. The aluminum can with Topsyl has in fact been greatly appreciated in the Horeca channel, which San Bernardo has chosen as a privileged reference market.

THE MACHINE FOR CAN PACKAGING

The Ecocap’s packaging machine is in place at the Ormea establishment, in the province of Cuneo, where most of the production is developed.

The machine was inserted into the production line using the lease (one of the formulas provided by Ecocap’s) and binding San Bernardo only to purchase the personalized capsules.

The machine for packaging customizable beverages in cans was developed for the largest production lines of breweries and producers of soft drinks and mineral waters.

Rotary machine with 60 stations with an hourly productivity of 20,000 cans, it fits very easily at the end of the line, without distorting the production layout.

Nomisma: Italians more attentive to the green packaging

3 April 2023 eleonora News 276

Consumers’ attention to sustainable packaging is growing. Ecocap’s is also environmentally conscious and TopSyl, its aluminium cap for cans, is 100% recyclable.

Despite the period of uncertainty and sharply rising inflation, sustainability continues to be a relevant factor in the purchasing choices of Italians. This trend is confirmed by the data from the Consumer Packaging Survey, presented by Nomisma at Marca by BolognaFiere and based on a representative sample of over 1,000 purchasing managers between the ages of 18 and 65.

For 35% of those interviewed, sustainability and attention to the environment are a key factor in their consumption choices and 57% still declare that they take them into account. More specifically, water and energy are the areas to which 80% of families pay the most attention, followed by food and beverages (77%), as well as mobility and travel (56%).

For 92% of Italians, characteristics related to packaging also have an increasing impact on purchasing decisions. In the last year, 65% of families added a product to their shopping cart because it had a greener pack than other brands and at the same time 19% did not buy a product precisely because the packaging was not sustainable.

There are three characteristics related to sustainability that are most appreciated by consumers:

  • no over-packing (58%),
  • fully recyclable (56%),
  • with reduced quantities of plastic (47%).

Looking at the materials, glass is considered the greenest (67%), followed by beverage cartons (59%).

Finally, the role of the label should be considered: one in five Italians declares that they are not fully satisfied with the information to evaluate the sustainability of food products, beverages and food packaging.

76% would like to find images or scores on the label that communicate the level of sustainability of the products and packaging.

Oriented towards constant research and development for the creation of latest generation “green” machinery and technological solutions, Ecocap’s contributes to the development of increasingly sustainable products and solutions. For example, the patented TopSyl seal, which protects and personalises the opening of the can, is 100% aluminium and 100% recyclable.

ECOCAP’S: performing and innovative machines for the TopSyl system

30 March 2023 eleonora News 272

Ecocap’s provides the beverage sector with cutting-edge and highly performing machinery (up to 75,000 TopSyl per hour).

TopSyl, whose patent belongs to Ecocap’s, is the practical and functional system that protects and gives new visibility to all aluminium cans. In its simplicity, TopSyl is truly revolutionary: consisting of a thin protection heat-sealed to the top of the can, TopSyl can be applied to any type and format of canned drink, without requiring the use of glues.

In this way TopSyl offers important guarantees in terms of hygiene and safety, as well as significant communication and marketing opportunities.

Thanks to Ecocap’s machines, with high flexibility and production capacity, TopSyl can be grafted onto the cans directly during the packaging phase.

In fact, these machines can be positioned to complement and close lines that are already operational, integrating perfectly even on systems made up of several machines active in parallel.

By virtue of increasingly high efficiency, Ecocap’s machines can support the application 75,000 capsules per hour.

Aluminium cans: Italy is virtuous; 9 out of 10 are recycled

16 February 2023 eleonora News 257

According to CIAL, the National Consortium for Aluminium Packaging, which has been promoting the collection, recycling and recovery of aluminium packs for years, 90.4% of aluminium cans are recycled in our country.

A material with many qualities – robust, ductile, resistant, malleable and durable – aluminium is also infinitely recyclable, keeping its structural properties unchanged over time. This is why, in Italy and in the world, the aluminium can is historically the most recycled beverage container.

Not just cans, though. Italy is also on the podium in the recycling of other product packs packaged in aluminium: from cans to caps, from trays, thin sheets, from tubes to tins, the total recycling of packs made with this material is, at a national level, around at 70%.

This has translated, in the last 3 years, into 151,700 tons of recycled packaging, for savings, in terms of emissions, of more than 1 million tons of CO2.

The Italian aluminium industry therefore boasts an efficient management system, characterized by a production based 100% on recycling: a high-performance model, consistent with the principles of the circular economy.
