A story of non-stop innovation in the packaging sector

As a global reference point in the world of industrial packaging the Cassoli Group officially began its journey in 2002, though its roots stretch much further back in time.
The group, which is a well-established element Bolognese entrepreneurship, built upon the foundations laid by Paolo Cassoli whose career started in 1964. His legacy has been passed down the generations, first to his son Stefano and daughter-in-law Maddalena, then to the third generation of this solid family tradition represented by siblings Marco and Jacopo.
Their attention has always been focused on automatic machinery for packaging, at the service of companies working in the domestic paper and drink can sectors.
This growth, following the transition that took place in the early 2000s has developed on the singular spirit for innovation that has always characterised the Cassoli family.

Bacteria on Can Lids

22 February 2021 eleonora News 389

Beverages in aluminium cans are widely available, and for convenience, drinks are often consumed directly from the can. Cans are exposed to various environments during production, storage and shipping during which the lid may be contaminated with microorganisms. This study on can lid contamination was divided into three experiments to determine (1) the cleanliness of randomly collected cans, (2) the transfer rate from hands to can lids and (3) the survival of bacteria on lids during storage. Over 190 cans were tested for presence of ATP using a standard luciferase enzyme kit. Of the 194 randomly selected cans, 90 (46.39%) were in the dangerous unsanitary category, 60 (30.93%) were considered cautionary as far as sanitation while 44 (22.68%) were categorized as clean. In the second experiment, subjects handled and opened cans with hands inoculated with E. coli and greater than 50% transfer to wet cans lids and greater than 30% transfer to dry can lids was found. In the third experiment, inoculated can lids were found to harbor E. coli for up to 14 days.

All the advantages of Ecocap’s for craft producers

It was officially presented in Nuremberg on the occasion of Brau Beviale, the main European exhibition for the beverage industry and immediately attracted great interest from the public of professionals and buyers present at the Ecocap’s stand. It is the CSS 020, the new system of Ecocap’s the latest arrival designed to meet the needs of artisanal producers.

Thanks to its small compact size, low weight and wheels that allow it to move easily the CSS 020 is ideal for any small production layout and ideal for stand-alone use.

The CSS 020, with a production speed of up to 1.500 cans per hour, is modular: this means that in case of larger outputs it can easily be connected to additional Ecocap machines in parallel to increase productivity.

To all this are added the extreme ease of use and a very interesting launch price. All the features of CSS 020 make it perfect for batch productions to cater for small or medium volumes typical of all craft producers, allowing more companies to appreciate the many advantages in terms of safety and hygiene and potential as a system marketing tool patented Ecocap’s.
